Introduction
Every year, on select beaches around the world, a remarkable event called “Arribada” occurs. Thousands of sea turtles, mostly Olive Ridley species, come ashore at the same time to lay their eggs. This natural phenomenon is unique to a few species of sea turtles and can be witnessed in places like Costa Rica, Mexico, and India. Scientists are still not sure how the turtles coordinate their nesting, but it is believed that environmental cues such as the moon, tides, and temperature play a role. Conservation efforts are crucial to protecting these vulnerable creatures from threats like poaching, pollution, and habitat destruction.
